CIPM honours Adeboye, Abiodun, others

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch celebrated its 10th Annual Conference in grand style, honouring distinguished individuals, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for their remarkable contributions to workforce development and excellence in human resource management.

Pastor Adeboye received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his visionary and transformative leadership, which has left an indelible mark on workforce development. Under his stewardship, the RCCG sponsors thousands of its People Managers to professional development events annually, including CIPM conferences, workshops, and leadership programmes. These initiatives have equipped the church’s human resource professionals with the competencies needed to lead effectively. The RCCG, under Pastor Adeboye’s leadership, has grown into a global force, impacting diverse generations and communities worldwide. His commitment to integrity and selflessness was also recognized during the award ceremony.

Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, was also honoured for his unwavering support of workforce development and his continued collaboration with CIPM to elevate professional standards within the state. Represented by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, the Governor emphasized the importance of the lessons learned at the conference, noting that they would inspire positive changes within the state’s public service and beyond.

In his remarks, Governor Abiodun, commended the CIPM Ogun State Branch for organizing a successful event. He emphasized the value of the lessons learned at the conference, noting that they would inspire positive changes across both public and private sectors. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with CIPM to promote best practices in workforce management and human resource development.

Speaking after the event, the Chairman of CIPM Ogun State Branch, Engr. Sean Olabode Badiru, MCIPM, expressed his gratitude for the outstanding support from individuals and organizations that have contributed significantly to the institute’s objectives. He highlighted the branch’s commitment to recognizing those who promote workforce capacity development and uphold excellence in human resource management practices.

Badiru also emphasized the importance of future-proofing leadership in today’s world. In an interview with journalists, he explained, “Future-proofing leadership is about preparing leaders to stay ahead of change. It means equipping them not only to tackle today’s challenges but to anticipate and adapt to future disruptions. Leaders must adopt a people-centric approach, driving innovation while building resilient teams that can thrive in uncertainty.”

He further noted that in today’s globalized business environment, leaders must be culturally aware, adaptable, and capable of communicating across diverse cultures. “As leaders, we need to respect cultural differences, understand values and beliefs, and use this knowledge to foster effective collaboration. It’s crucial for building trust and avoiding misunderstandings in our diverse work environments.”

The Chairman concluded by stressing the importance of emotional intelligence and ethical leadership in preparing leaders for the future. “Leaders must prioritize their emotional well-being, manage stress, and navigate complex ethical challenges with integrity. By doing so, they set positive examples for their teams and foster a healthy work environment.”

CIPM President, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, also addressed the gathering, congratulating the Ogun State Branch for its achievements. He encouraged HR professionals to embrace innovation and reimagine the future of work. “The role of HR is evolving, and we must be agile, forward-thinking, and aligned with the dynamic needs of today’s workforce. Our goal is to create workplaces that are inclusive, productive, and resilient,” he said.

Other distinguished dignitaries at the conference included Mrs. Chidinma Obiejesi, MCIPM, Vice President of CIPM; Mr. Henry Unuakpor, MCIPM, Corporate Head, HR Strategy, Policy and Compensation, Nigeria LNG; Oluwatoyin Naiwo, FCIPM, Chief Executive of CIPM; Prof. Oladele Balogun, MCIPM, Head of Administration, RCCG; Mr. Shakiru Lawal, MCIPM, Country Human Resources Manager, Nestlé Nigeria Plc; Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, MCIPM, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Ogun State; Mr. Jola Oyeneye, mni, MCIPM, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms; Mr. Olatunji Timothy, MCIPM, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Forestry; Mrs. Kehinde Akinola, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Protocol and Ceremonials; Pastor Julius Olalekan, MCIPM, Head of Personnel, RCCG; and Mr. Enahoro Okhae, CEO of GIGM.

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from the CIPM Ogun State Branch to continue promoting excellence in human resource management and leadership development across the state.
