Adeleke orders probe into clashes in Egbedi town

Against the backdrop of reported gunmen attacks in Egbedi community, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun, where five persons were allegedly shot, the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday ordered a probe into the incident.
He also said that perpetrators of the dastardly act will face justice, assuring that his administration will always protect lives and properties.
Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement, hinted that the governor’s attention had been drawn to a viral video and subsequent reported attacks on the town of Egbedi.
Rasheed explained that the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters had been directed to investigate the incident and ensure restoration of peace in the area as urgently as possible.
It reads, “The governor frowned at the unwholesome incident and directed immediate action by the Commissioner and the Special Adviser to restore normalcy through inclusive conflict resolution procedure.
“Governor Adeleke particularly rejected the involvement of the state government and advised against politicising the unfortunate face-off. We should avoid politicising every incident. I have no gun-wielding appointee. I didn’t send anybody to foment a communal crisis. We will get to the root of the matter,” Rasheed said.
The governor, however, assured the Elegbedi of Egbedi, Oba Muideen Azeez, chiefs, sons, and daughters of the town that those responsible for the attacks would be brought to book.
