The African Marine Environment Sustainability Initiative (AFMESI) is set to address the capacity needs of the marine and blue economy industry across the continent.
AFMESI will engage no fewer than 150 early and mid-career professionals in the marine and blue economy sectors from Africa and beyond during a two-day symposium and workshop scheduled for September 24 and 25, 2024 in Lagos.
The event, themed: “Achieving Blue Growth in a Changing Climate: Integrating the Coastal Communities,” will bring together key global and regional stakeholders and experts from governments, industry, academia, and civil society organisations to discuss strategies for sustainability and value addition to Africa’s blue ecosystems.
According to the President of AFMESI, Dr Felicia Mogo, the free workshop on day two is aimed at building the capacity of approximately 150 early and mid-career professionals in the marine and blue economy sectors from Africa and beyond.
She noted that the event would also provide opportunities for participants to learn, network, and collaborate on shaping the future of Africa’s blue economy journey.
