Rotary Club empowers 300 students with learning materials

Rotary Club of Lagos

The Rotary Club of Festac Town has donated educational materials to about 300 students at Festac Girls Secondary School and Christhill Schools in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, as part of activities marking Rotary International’s basic education and literacy month.

The students received exercise books, mathematical sets, dictionaries and past examination question papers to support their academic pursuits and examination preparation.

Speaking during the presentation, the President of the Rotary Club of Festac Town, McAnthony Echefu, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to promoting education and literacy among young people.

He said the club decided to focus on learning materials because they are basic tools that directly impact students’ ability to learn, revise and prepare adequately for both internal and external examinations.

Echefu urged individuals, faith-based organisations and community groups to support education, noting that government alone cannot address the numerous challenges facing the sector.

He added that collaborative efforts from the private sector and civil society are needed to improve learning outcomes and expand access to quality education.

Also speaking, the student representative of Festac Girls Senior Secondary School, Kerobo Purity, thanked the club for the intervention and pledged that beneficiaries would make good use of the materials and strive for academic excellence.
