AN associate professor in the Department of Biophysics and Cell Biology, University of Debrecen, Hungary, Dr. Attila Jenei, has advised Nigeråian parents against hurrying to enrol their children and wards for overseas education at a very tender age.

Rather, he wants them to take advantage of advanced level or foundation programmes offered locally, to enable the children come of age and have the requisite background to face rigorous academic challenges abroad.

Jenei, who was in the country recently as part of the team from the Hungarian varsity to firm up a partnership with GEC Academy International, one of Nigeria’s sixth form colleges and  placement agents, commended Nigerian students currently studying at the university for their academic and moral excellence.

The partnership with the University of Debrecen, will enable the GEC Academy seamlessly facilitate the placement of Nigerian students in the institution.

In this partnership, which is part of efforts to quench the thirst of Nigerian students itching to study abroad, opportunities exists in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, physiotherapy, all fields of engineering, mechatronics, agricultural engineering, environmental science, business administration among others.

Executive Director of the academy, Mrs. Josephine Peters, noted during the visit by the officials that students who have completed their ordinary level education were qualified to register for the International Degree Foundation Programme (IDFP), at the college, a step that would inch them closer to being admitted for a bachelor’s degree programme.

She added that the partnership was prompted by GEC Academy’s ability to satisfy all necessary foreign education requirements for the placement of students in the Hungarian varsity and other foreign universities.

The executive director stressed that as a result of the wide array of academic and non-academic activities students of the Hungarian varsity were exposed to during their sojourn there, their graduates stand better chances of gaining employment in their home countries and other locations across the world, including European Union countries, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Ireland, Canada among others.

She also informed that tuition fees and cost of living in the school were also affordable.

Associate professor, Centre of Arts, Humanities and Science, University of Debrecen, Dr. Lazslo Kozma, while speaking on the partnership emphasised that students who successfully complete the IDFP in engineering, business administration, computer science, physiotherapy and public health with the appropriate academic results, would be guaranteed immediate admission for a bachelor’s degress programme at the university, without requiring to sit for any other external examination. But students requiring to study general medicine, dentistry and pharmacy at the university are required to sit for the external examination.

On his part, associate professor, Department of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Dr. Zoltan Balajthy, assured parents of a secured, serene and superb facilities at the university with zero crime rate in Hungary.

For interesting applicants, GEC Academy International upon successful completion of other programmes at the college also offers services including visa processing to the students.
