Engineers donate, pledge support for the blind school
IN furtherance of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), otherwise known as Community Engineering (CE), as mandated by the present leadership of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi, the Apapa branch of the society recently donated food stuffs and toiletries to the Federal Nigeria Society of the Blind, Oshodi, Lagos.
This is also in addition to the professional assistance which the engineers have pledged to give to the society in the building projects they are about to undertake, coupled with landscaping of the school environment for the easy movement of the physically-challenged in the facility, all for free.
In a visit to the school last week, the administrator of the facility, Mrs. Ivy Bassey, appealed to the engineers to assist them in bringing modernity to the centre established since 1955.
Bassey, who disclosed that the society is organizing a N50 million fund raising to help them bring a face-lift to the facility and erect new structures to cater for the planned increment of the school inmates from its present 60 to 120, solicited the support of the engineers in whatever capacity to help them achieve their goals.
The chairman, NSE, Apapa branch, Engr. Ola Taiwo, said the branch will access the capacity of members and offer their help based on their capabilities.
