Toyota’s luxurious art in Land Cruiser, Lexus LX 570
TOYOTA and Lexus have upgraded their flagship SUVs. While the 2016 Lexus LX 570 and Toyota Land Cruiser twins are packed with luxurious goodies, both SUVs are still very capable off-roaders thanks to substantial and sophisticated suspension hardware.
The biggest upgrade for model-year 2016 is the new eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the old six-speed for better performance and fuel economy.
Both SUVs are still powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 that churns out 381 hp and 401 lb-ft in the 2016 Land Cruiser, and slightly more in the LX 570. Both also feature fancy off-road hardware like Active Traction Control and the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which can electronically disconnect the sway bars for improved off-road performance.
Inside, the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser features seating for eight on new semi-aniline perforated leather available in black or Terra (brown) accented by Deep Wood trim. Toyota says the redesigned center console has ìa more cohesive appearance and more intuitive controls. The Land Cruiser comes fully loaded in one trim with options limited to exterior and interior colors.
For Lexus, the biggest upgrade for model-year 2016 is the new eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the old six-speed for better performance and fuel economy.
Both SUVs are still powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 that churns out 381 hp and 401 lb-ft in the 2016 Land Cruiser, and slightly more in the LX 570 (383 hp and 403 lb-ft). Both also feature fancy off-road hardware like Active Traction Control and the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which can electronically disconnect the sway bars for improved off-road performance.
The Lexus has been upgraded with LED headlights, Drive Mode Select, bigger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, an available head-up display, and standard 360-degree camera.
Meanwhile, the Toyota also gets LED headlights, available semi-aniline leather, and new advanced safety features like blind spot monitoring, front collision warning, and lane departure warning. The Lexus, of course, coddles passengers with a bit more luxury, nice materials, and other standard features like middle-row ventilated seats.
