Palmgrove Estate club comes first in Rotary International Director’s ranking in Nigeria

Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate has emerged the best Rotary Club in District 9110 comprising Lagos and Ogun States at the just concluded 33rd Annual District Conference of Rotary International with the theme: “Keep the service flame burning.”

The event took place at Abeokuta, Ogun State and was witnessed by Past Director, Rotary International, 2008-10, Dr. Philip J. Silvers who represented the President, Rotary International, 2014-15, Gary C.K. Huang at the event.

A Rotarian since 1986, Silvers was President of the Rotary Club of Tucson and was District 5500 Governor 1999-2000, District Rotary Foundation Chair, Regional Foundation Coordinator among others. He is currently the Chairman, Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisors 2014-17, which is responsible for advising sponsor clubs, making mandatory site visits, and auditing all Global Grants, as well as evaluating all Rotary Foundation programs, including the Rotary Peace Centres.

Silvers paid a courtesy visit to the Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate, led by past District Governor, Kamoru Omotosho, his wife, Susan and the Assistant Governor in charge of the club, Etin-osa Eboigbe Olaye.

They were received by the President of the Club, Ramesh Biswal, past President, G.N. Patel, past President Dr. Alex Thomopulous, past President Mukesh Bhatt, incoming President, Pradeep Pahalwani, Interact President, Stephen Ihefunobi, Interact Secretary, Omotayo Olasumbo among others.

Welcoming Silvers, Biswal intimated him with the several projects being carried out by the Club including the concluded screening of patients with cataract, glaucoma and pterygium, preparatory to carrying out cataract surgery by specialist doctors and para-medical officers coming from India for those already identified as qualified for the exercise.
