African Women in Media (AWiM) has announced Ethiopian Airlines as exclusive airline and travel partner for the AWiM25 Conference, taking place at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa this December.

This strategic partnership represents a shared commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and creating enabling environments for African media professionals, academics, CSOs and other related agencies to engage in critical policy conversations that shape the continent’s media landscape.

Through this collaboration, Ethiopian Airlines is offering 20 percent travel discounts to AWiM25 delegates, making it easier and more affordable for participants from across Africa and the diaspora to attend. This move directly supports AWiM’s mission to increase inclusivity, representation, and access in media dialogues especially for women whose presence in such spaces remains underrepresented.

CEO & Co-Founder, African Women in Media, Dr Yemisi Akinbobola said, “This partnership with Ethiopian Airlines is more than a travel arrangement, it is a deliberate step towards dismantling the logistical barriers that often exclude African women from global conversations especially those that centre women, media and policy. AWiM25 is a milestone moment for our continent, and we are proud to work with partners who share our vision of access, equity and action.”

With the theme “Beyond Commitments: Advancing Policies for Gender-Safe Media,” AWiM25 will convene journalists, policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders from across the continent to co-develop frameworks and strategies for gender equity in media.

Commenting on the partnership VP ET Holiday & Digital/GCIC Sales, Mr. Hailemelekot Mamo, said, “Ethiopian Airlines participation in the AWiM25 conference as an official airline partner is a testament to its commitment to play a key role in initiatives that bring positive change and growth to our continent.

Our partnership with AWiM25 further highlights the crucial link between mobility and participation in continental development conversations. This partnership empowers more people to take their place at the table and we are proud to facilitate that presence by reducing logistical and financial barriers to travel.”
