At Summit, women charged to advocate, champion self-driven growth
Female entrepreneurs have been charged to advocate for women’s empowerment, champion equality and break barriers. They have also been tasked to forge meaningful connections and foster growth in their field of endeavour.
This was the thrust at the fourth edition of Ladies At The Table Empowerment Series (LATTES) held recently organised by Stanbic IBTC with partnership with Bloom Weekend at the Landmark centre in Lekki, Lagos.
Speaking at the summit with the theme, ‘with her for her’, Executive Director Stanbic IBTC pension Manager, Nike Bajomo said the primary goal is to celebrate, empower and inspire women within the vibrant Blue Blossom community. Mrs Bajomo said as part of the activities making the first Bloom Weekend.
“The essence of Bloom Weekend and LATTES is empowerment with meaningful discussions for the advancement of women and to actively bridge the gap between women’s aspirations and their tangible achievements. Bajomo said the forum can spark meaningful change by providing a space where influential figures and attendees can engage in open dialogue and aim to inspire attendees to take bold steps towards conversation initiated.
Chief Executive Officer, Consultant Lady Bird Limited and Keynote speaker at the summit, Bunmi Oke, emphasised on the strength and unity of women noting that it is important for women to support each other and not be afraid to lift themselves. “Women should ensure that they take the right decisions and plans for their business and career that are specific and measurable. Take advantage of your dreams and be in charge of your lives”, she advised.
On a panel session, focused on the theme, “With her for her,’ it had Broadcast Journalist, Eugenia Abu; Medical practitioner, Olaide Omotosho Ikuru; Family Life Coach, Nike Folagbade, and Associate Director, PWC, Oluwadamilola Dada. They encouraged women to expose themselves with knowledge and embrace new opportunities.
For Physiotherapist and medical health expert, Nkiru Jizuaku, she spoke on the need to avoid sedentary lifestyle adding that it is important to engage in exercises to avoid disease like cancer and diabetes. She also stressed that regular medical checkup, eating right, adequate sleep and moderate exercises are key to healthy living.
While CEO Zayith Foods, Chidimma Uzoma spoke on the need for women to take care of their mental health, nutritional needs and emotional stability, she urged participants to love themselves more, work on their emotions and avoiding toxic environs.
