Would like to know how you got to working as a creative fashion stylist?
I’ve always been passionate about fashion, ever since I was a child. My favourite end-of-the-school-year activity was “fashion parade”. I would always match my dad’s cap to his outfits and randomly stand in front of the mirror from around age 8, trying to tie my mum’s gele. This continued through secondary school and university, when I would style friends for parties and occasions. I always knew I had a passion for fashion, and attending a course at the London School of Fashion was the experience that really opened my eyes to the creative side of fashion, and I realised this was what got my creative juices flowing.

Have you always wanted to work in fashion?
While I didn’t always know I wanted to work in fashion specifically, I’ve always been drawn to creativity and self-expression. Back in the day, people didn’t really see prospects in the possibility of building a career in fashion but now, I’m excited to be part of an industry that allows me to express myself creatively while helping others do the same. Fashion is constantly evolving, and I love being part of that dynamic environment. My first official role was styling a 40th birthday photoshoot, this taught me the importance of teamwork and attention to detail. I’ve worked with various clients, and this has helped refine Tf_styling’s unique offering and aesthetic. Today, I’m focused on innovative ways to express style while being mindful of our clients’ individuality. I’m excited about what’s next and look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of fashion styling.

What exactly does your job entail?
I create visually appealing looks by selecting and coordinating clothing, accessories, and hairstyles for various clients. My primary role is to help individuals present themselves in the best possible way through fashion.

What is a typical working day like for you?
There is no single day that looks the same but a typical day often starts with reviewing fashion trends, fashion blogs, or social media to stay up-to-date and draw inspiration for clients and upcoming projects an then I could have In-person or virtual consultation meetings with clients to discuss their style needs, preferences, or event requirements and agree a theme for photoshoot if applicable. If styling for a photoshoot, I would work on pulling together the “team”. (select and liaise with photographers, makeup artists, and hair stylists to create cohesive looks). Depending on the project, I could do some shopping for outfits and accessories in store or online and then start to put the looks together just to get a sense of the final look and note anything that may need tweaking before reviewing with the client. Pre-Photoshoot Prep would include a final review with the the client , makeup artist, hair stylist and photographer to ensure they are aware of the plan for the next day. On photoshoot day I work as a project manager making sure outfits and accessories are well laid out and the client is relaxed and ready to enjoy the photoshoot.
