Self-care, wellness take centre stage at EM Live Experience

Women have been urged to prirotise self-love, self-care and over wellness of their mind and body to be optimal in every sphere of their lives. They have been charged to take necessary breaks, medical body checks, imbibe healthy eating habits and reduce stress for longevity.

This was the focus at the second edition of the annual Wellness and Style Live Experience by Exquisite Magazine (EM) with the theme, Self-Love – The New Love Language.

Convener of the Wellness and Style Live Experience by Exquisite Magazine (EM), Dr. Tewa Onasanya, said that the power of intentional self-love is the foundation for living a fulfilled and balanced life. She shared her personal journey of self-affirmation, explaining how deliberately saying “I love you” to herself daily transformed her confidence, presence, and decision-making.

“Self-love is not selfish, self-love means setting boundaries, walking away from unproductive conversations, and making choices that honour one’s purpose and mental health.

Highlighting the practical outcomes of self-love, Dr. Onasanya identified clarity, confidence, and capacity as its three key benefits. Loving oneself, she explained, enables clear decisions, boosts self-assurance, and builds the emotional and physical capacity to support others without running on empty. Using the familiar analogy of an airplane mask, she said, “You can’t pour into others from an empty cup,” urging participants to intentionally prioritise their needs, rest when necessary, and embrace self-love unapologetically as a prerequisite for success and well-being.

The event also witnessed sessions including ‘Mindful self-care and self-compassion practices’ by wellness coach, Priyanka Bagaria who took attendees through exercises that strengthens the mind and body. Wellbeing strategist, Isioma Okolo who spoke on Nourishing body and soul – embracing authenticity stressed the need to be intimate with oneself. “We struggle with being our true self because we want to succeed at something hence you must, audit your relationships, eat healthy and in colours, priortise your health, career, spirituality and time with God.”

Hormone and women’s health specialist, Yewande Banire who spoke on Guide on your hormones advised women to priortise sleep, hydrate always which helps flush out toxins, while Wholeness coach and founder of Thrive3sixty Int’l, Ifeyinwa Okafor harped on the need for women to live their best lives while achieving purpose
