In commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, renowned intimacy coach and wellness advocate, Dr. Vera Chikezie-Oke, in collaboration with NTA Channel 10, Lagos, hosted a special programme dedicated to celebrating and supporting breastfeeding mothers.

The event, which was filled with warmth and excitement, went beyond the health and nutritional value of breastfeeding to focus on the emotional and psychological well-being of mothers. Dr. Chikezie-Oke emphasized the importance of intimacy during the breastfeeding season, explaining how love, closeness, and spousal support contribute to stronger families and healthier relationships.

“Motherhood is a sacred journey,” she said. “Beyond the nourishment breastfeeding provides, women deserve to be reminded of their worth, their beauty, and the importance of intimacy in strengthening bonds during this season of their lives. Breastfeeding is not just about feeding a child; it is about creating a deep emotional connection that shapes the health of both mother and baby. When women are supported with love, care, and encouragement, they flourish and when mothers flourish, families and communities thrive.”

One of the highlights of the program was the Baby of the Year Competition, where proud mothers showcased their little ones. Winners received cash prizes and special gifts, drawing cheers and appreciation from the audience.

The collaboration reflected Dr. Chikezie-Oke’s ongoing mission to promote holistic wellness, strengthen family systems, and empower women through knowledge and support.

By blending celebration with education, the event left mothers feeling valued and inspired. For many participants, it was not just a program but a reminder that breastfeeding is both a physical act and an emotional journey, one that flourishes with love, intimacy, and community care.
