Buhari sacks AMCON chief, Chike-Obi, appoints Kuru as successor
• Demands details of NITEL, MTEL privatization
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Managing Director of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Mustafa Chike-Obi, in the gale of restructuring going on in the country.
Besides, the President also approved the dissolution and reconstitution of the management team of the corporation. Both actions are with immediate effect.
Under the new dispensation, Mr. Ahmed Lawan Kuru was appointed the new Managing Director with Kola Ayeye, Eberechukwu Uneze and Aminu Ismail named executive directors.
A statement from the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to the President, Femi Adesina, in Abuja said that until his appointment, Kuru was the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Enterprise Bank Limited.
The appointment of Kuru and the three new AMCON executive directors was with immediate effect from yesterday, August 18, 2015. The Chike-Obi-led management team was appointed in August 2010 by the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Those removed along with him yesterday were Mr. Hewett Adegboyega Benson, Executive Director (Asset Management, Directorate); Mofoluke Benedicta Dosunmu, Executive Director (Finance and Corporate Services) and Mr. Abbas Mohammed Jega (Executive Director, Credit Directorate).
Meanwhile, President Buhari has directed the Ministry of Communications Technology (MCT) to forward a memo to his office detailing how the recent privatisation of Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) and its mobile subsidiary, MTEL, took place.
This will enable the President to determine whether Nigeria actually benefitted from the sales or it was short-changed. He directed the ministry to work harder to fully develop the revenue-generation potential of the nation’s information technology sector.

We have 3 arms of government. Ask others to do their job. If Buhqri is violating the law of the land and NASS and The Judiciary don’t stop him, then don’t blame PMB.

What we witness is brand new political order. Our democracy has been jettisoned by mohamed buhari. In its place AWUSACRACY….government of the awusa for the awusa and by the awusa.
The Headline is misleading. The Board and MD are usually appointed for a five year tenure after which the President can use his discretion to renew or appoint someone else. In this case it is simply their tenure expired and the President did not renew it so sack is a strong word. These men completed their tenure.
This truly is too obvious. Buhari is turning every government organisation to a hausa/fulani affair. more than 80% of all appointments so far are from his section of the country. If anybody talks, the government will use the anti-curruption magic wand to shut the person up and Nigerians will follow. Anyways, it is not surprising because he said in the states that we cannot expect thos who did not vote for him to get as much from his administration as those who voted for him. Had GEJ made a speech like this while he was president, he would no doubt have been killed by now by the Northerners.
We have a fake for a country and an ethnic bigot for a president.
