The Nollywood film industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran actor and esteemed university lecturer, Columbus Irisoanga, known for his fierce role in “Isakaba”.

The announcement of his death was made earlier today on social media, particularly via Instagram, by fellow movie star, Hilda Dokubo.

In her heartfelt tribute, Hilda wrote, “Our beloved uncle Coli has gone to be with the Lord. It seems Heaven has a pressing need for angels, as those of us left on Earth are feeling the weight of this tremendous loss. His departure is deeply felt within the Uniport community and the broader Nollywood family in Rivers State.”

Columbus Irisoanga was not only known for his remarkable contributions to the film industry but also for his dedication to educating aspiring filmmakers and actors at the university level.

He was the recipient of several awards, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role (AMAA), Best Actor in a Drama (City Peoples Entertainment Awards), Most Promising Actor in Nigeria (AMVCA), and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Best of Nollywood Awards).

His legacy will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of many who were touched by his work and spirit.
