You might still be in the weekend funk and you are probably having issues on how to start your day. Don’t worry be happy *insert smiley face here*. We have curated realistic tips to help you boost your day and hopefully your week.

7 ways to improve your day;

Make your bed

This has nothing to do with being a clean freak but this ritual is calmings and creates a calm environment for you in the bedroom. Author Gretchen Rubin recommends making your bed as a daily habit in her book, The Happiness Project . Do it first thing in the morning, and you’ve got one less thing to worry about for the rest of the day.

Exercise

No matter how much we stress the importance of exercise, very few people partake in it consistently. Other health benefits include; making you smarter, happier, improves sleep, increases libido and makes you feel better about your body.

Be optimistic

Optimism can make you healthier and happier. The Army teaches it in order to increase mental toughness in soldiers. Being overconfident improves performance.

Clear your desk

Clearing your desk would prepare your mindset for the day, so clear the clutter which can make you lose focus and curb productivity. Declutter your outer environment and you may feel more organized and better able to concentrate on the task at hand.

Write an “Ignore List”

It is totally the opposite of the list we are used to which is the “to-do list”, but to succeed in today’s distraction-prone world, you also have to ask yourself: What’s not worth doing? Jot down what you’re willing to disregard—e-mails you have no intention of responding to, vacuuming, the guilt of not vacuuming.

Review the list from time to time to make sure that nothing on it is getting your undeserved attention.

Pump up the music

Several studies have found that listening to music can help lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and boost mood. The right music has the power to change your attitude. Create a playlist that will make you smile.

Sniff a lemon

Your sense of smell is highly underrated. Japanese researchers found that linalool; a substance found in lemons, may turn down the classic “flight-or-fight” stress response. You have other options like basil, juniper, or lavender — they also lower stress.
