Mercy Chinwo: Producer Demands Unpaid Royalties For Excess Love, Other Hit Tracks
Music producer, Dr. Roy, said he has not been paid due royalties for ‘excess love’ and numerous hit tracks he produced for Mercy Chinwo by the record label.
The accusations surfaced when Dr. Roy appeared on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he tearfully recounted his experiences working with the gospel singer and the record label.
Dr. Roy, who has been instrumental in producing some of Chinwo’s most successful songs, claimed that despite the long hours and dedication he put into the work, he has not been compensated fairly.
He said: “I used to put in long hours to help the gospel singer produce her songs. Throughout those moments, what had kept me going was the hope that I would make enough so that my family can be well off.”
The situation took a personal turn when Dr. Roy revealed that during a difficult time when his father suffered a stroke, he reached out to Chinwo for assistance but received no support.
“I once called the actress to assist me with anything when my father was down with stroke, but she had instead told me that ‘he will be fine.”
The music producer had to take pauses in-between to hold back his tears while making the narration.
Hours later, Dr. Roy put out a video countering his previous statements, saying he was not calling out Mercy Chinwo, but was rather calling out EeZee Tee of EeZee concept, the record label Mercy Chinwo was signed on to.
“I was not calling out Mercy Chinwo,” Dr. Roy said in video on social media. “Mercy helped me when my father was sick and I remain grateful to her.”
Recently, Mercy and her husband, Blessed Uzochikwa, were embroiled in a scandal which led to them having to take legal action against five social media users for criminal defamation related to their son’s paternity saga.
The accusers claimed that Chinwo’s son shared a resemblance to another gospel artist, Nathaniel Bassey, questioning the legitimacy of the child.
