Reactions As Armed Robbers Raid Parts Of Lagos
In the wake of the lockdown enforced by the federal government of Nigeria in some parts of the country, there have been reports of armed attacks in some parts of Lagos and Ogun states.
President Muhammadu Buhari in a speech made on the 29th of March ordered a two weeks lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun – the three most affected states in Nigeria, in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus in the country.
Recently, worrying reports have surfaced on social media as residents lament rising criminal activities in different parts of Lagos and Ogun. The robbers, mainly young persons, dispossessed residents of cash, phones, foodstuff and other belongings.
Below are some reactions from residents of these areas:

Funny enough, it’s the residents who have been catching these thieves.
To the people of Egbeda, Iyana Ipaja, Ogba, Akute, Agege. You’re strong people and I pray you come out of this soon 🙏🏽#AgegeUnrest

Most of these boys disturbing Agege and it’s environs have their parents living in same area, Awawa boys and the likes.
I don’t support jungle justice but if you catch a real armed robber at this moment, i can donate petrol. We are all suffering together, negodu 😡#AgegeUnrest

“They have nothing to eat, Gov’t didn’t fund them, life might be tough for them, they have people to feed”
Do not justify robbery. It just doesn’t add up.
Speak with sense___#AgegeUnrest

The law doesn’t look at hardship or ignorance or pure stupidity as an excuse or defence for committing a crime, so those of you justifying the robbers, I hope when they come to your house, you will pet them and make them feel at home. #AgegeUnrest

A thief is a thief. Stop justifying their actions by saying its because of the Covid-19 lockdown. Every thief must always have a reason. You that are defending them, do you have everything you need at home? Why haven’t you gone to rob?#AgegeUnrest

There’s no justification whatsoever for this robbery.
Which one is “the government did not give them relieve funds ”
The people they’re robbing, did the government give them relieve funds? #AgegeUnrest

The commissioner of police for Lagos State just said on TVC that he has not heard any report of the robbery in any place in Lagos and that it’s just panic from the people.
I am not surprised. How can a commissioner of Police deny this at this time. Wahala Dey ooo!

The confidence with which the men of the Nigerian Police Force lie is unfathomable! These guys lie unprovoked.
Just imagine how the CPs of Lagos and Ogun vehemently denied and downplayed the #AgegeUnrest, #OgunUnrest and #LagosUnrest
Pathetic!!! 🤦♂️#YourViewTVC

Instead of sharing emergency numbers of police that wouldn’t respond when there’s an armed robbery going on, why not share the phone numbers of those vibrant young vigilante men who stay up all night defending their communities. The Nigerian police is useless. #AgegeUnrest

Thanks you @PoliceNG @rrslagos767 for the quick respond. We hope your patrol will be permanent in Agege.#agegeunrest #lagoslockdown pic.twitter.com/VPou7DapzG
