Here’s a tested, trusted, and approved recipe for making the perfect crispy fried chicken:

Ingredients

● Bone-in chicken, preferably drumsticks and thighs
● Buttermilk
● Salt
● Black pepper

Dredging mixture

● Paprika (which helps with browning)
● All-purpose flour
● Onion powder
● Garlic powder
● White pepper
● Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. Cut your chicken into pieces.
2. Mix the buttermilk, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Here, you can also add the spices you love to your marinade. Add your chicken pieces, cover with a plastic bag, and refrigerate for 4 hours.
3. Pour oil into a skillet and heat to 350°F.
4. Prepare your breading by combining paprika, flour, onion powder, garlic powder, and white pepper in a plastic bag.
5. Remove your chicken from the marinade, place it in the breading mix, and coat properly.
6. Fry the coated chicken in 350°F oil.
7. Brown the chicken in hot oil on both sides.
8. After browning, reduce the heat and let the chicken fry again until crispy.
9. Drain the chicken on a paper towel for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Additional tips

● Tap off the excess buttermilk and flour when coating.
●Also, avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent the chicken from bumping into each other and the breading falling off as a result.
