Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has bravely shared her personal story of losing her parents in a fire incident during her childhood. In an interview on her show, “Toke Moments,” she opened up about the traumatic experience and how it has shaped her life.
Makinwa recalled the devastating incident during an interview with comedian AY who was also explaining his experience of his house being burnt down by a fire. She said, “I’ve been a victim of a house fire when I was a kid and unfortunately both my parents died as a result of that. That’s one of my biggest fears.
“Sorry about that. I’m just hearing this for the first time.” AY responded.
Toke continued saying, “I woke up to about 78 missed calls on the day of the incident. And I opened my phone and saw my house on Instablog. The fact that my family was on holiday, was my point of Thanksgiving.”
