Academy equips Northern youth on digital marketing
Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Alumnae Association has trained 100 Northern youths on digital marketing and other in-demand skills. The non-governmental organisation is among the White House initiatives that empower women entrepreneurs in different countries and is funded by the United States government.
President of the association, Adebisi Odeleye, at the training, on Saturday, noted that the programme had been on since 2014, but they decided to focus on digital skills, this year, because of its importance.
She said: “The world now operates in the digital space; hence, we came out to specifically train the youth on digital skills; so that they can be in Nigeria and work anywhere in the world at the same time. They can work remotely, making income for themselves.
“We are also teaching them graphic designing and products. The reason we focus on these two skills is because, with a basic knowledge, people can increase their capacity and build themselves.
“Everything is hard right now in terms of the economy and we want them to leverage the economy and other things they can use to build their brands and increase revenue to the country’s economy.”
