Afejuku to speak on Soyinka, Camara Laye in United States

SoyinkaSCHOLAR-POET Prof. Tony Afwejuku of the University of Benin will deliver a lecture on the Guinean Camara Laye and Nigeria’s Prof. Wole Soyinka, at Harvard University Science Centre on June 5, 2015.

Afejuku is the only African billed to speak at the gathering of international scholars from all the continents to be hosted by the World Phenomenology Institute.

His lecture focuses on his assessment of both writers’ autobiographies of childhood as the narratives of phenomenological existentialists, a hard branch of philosophy. It is a new exploration of the writers’ narratives.

On the lecture, Afejuku said: “My prism of engagement is definitely a fresh dimension, first of its kind, I must say, regarding the subject in relation to Laye and Soyinka. I hope to fly well the Nigerian, nay, the African flag at the event. I also read hope to read aspects of my new poetry volume, A SPRING OF SWEETS.
