The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) on Tuesday appreciated their spouses for their dedication to national service as well as their commitment to family.

The officers were honoured at the NAFOWA Talk and Dinner hosted to commemorate Men’s Health Awareness Month.

Delivering a welcome speech at the event, the wife of the Chief of Air Staff and National President of NAFOWA, Dr. (Mrs.) Rakiya Abubakar, lauded officers, airmen, and airwomen for their uncommon commitment to their homes, despite the daunting task of balancing family responsibilities.

He said, “The event is uniquely organised to, on one hand, appreciate and honour our servicemen for their dedication to duty as well as their continuous efforts in providing for their families.

“On the other hand, it is a reminder and an awareness campaign to our servicemen to prioritise their health by observing routine checkups, regular exercise, and maintaining a good diet.

“Internationally, Men’s Health Awareness Month is observed annually in November to raise awareness about men’s health.

“NAFOWA, as an organisation, values the resilience of men and particularly the hard work of responsible men, who, despite economic challenges and stress, put in more effort to provide the basic necessities for their families.

“Furthermore, our commitment to provide the needed emotional support to our beloved servicemen gave birth to this initiative of bringing everyone together in a more relaxed environment to unwind and remind you of our love and support.

“Additionally, we have invited an experienced resource person to provide guidance on how to prioritise our health and educate us on some medical tips, especially as they affect men.

“It is on this note that I want to appreciate and welcome, once again, our Special Guest of Honour, senior officers and their spouses, officers, and airmen to this beautiful gathering.”

The event was attended by the Chief of Air Staff (CoAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
