• Again, PDP demands redeployment of Ondo REC

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the weekend, said that the security apparatus across border communities of the state would be further fortified to eliminate the incessant activities of kidnappers in the state.

He said that he does not make empty promises and would deliver on his words to make the state a better place for all residents within his full term in office.
Aiyedatiwa, who gave the assurance during his campaign tour of Ose Local Council of the state where he visited several communities and engaged with stakeholders, including traditional rulers, said that all abandoned road projects would be completed.

The governor, while speaking at the palace of the Alani of Ido-Ani, Oba Olufemi Olutoye, said: “Unlike other candidates making promises they won’t fulfil, I don’t believe in empty words. I will put in the action and deliver good governance.”

He urged people of the community to vote for him in the coming election, assuring them that his administration would remain focused on delivering meaningful progress and sustainable development.

Oba Olutoye and the Onidogun of Idogun, Oba Moses Ekundayo Bakare, called on the government to address the challenges posed by the poor road network in the region. They stressed that inadequate infrastructure had hindered economic activities and access to essential services in their communities.

The monarchs further stressed the need for improved healthcare facilities, schools’ renovation, and greater political inclusion. The monarchs, while expressing their confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, unanimously endorsed him as the most capable candidate to lead the state forward.

Also, the Onimoru of Imoru, Oba Rotimi Obamuagun, appealed to the governor to intensify efforts in addressing the security challenges affecting the region.

MEANWHILE, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, yesterday, demanded the redeployment of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Oluwatoyin Babalola, ahead of the election in the state.

The call for Babalola’s redeployment was contained in an open letter to the National Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu.

The party specifically identified Babalola as a bonafide resident of Ondo State with her family permanently domiciled at No. 3 Majekodunmi Street, Ijoka Area of Akure Town, in Akure South, saying that she remains therefore an established resident of the state.

The Ondo PDP, in the letter signed by its State Secretary, Oluseye Olujimi, said the request becomes imperative for the preservation of the nation’s fragile democracy and restoration of public’s confidence in the commission’s integrity.
