Amb Jim Okolo Chimezie, an international election observer and National Coordinator of Nouvelle Perspective, has engaged in key meetings with foreign election observation mission counterparts in the United States.

The meetings were part of Chimezie’s activities during his visit to the US, where he attended the official inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States.

The National Coordinator of Nouvelle Perspective, who is also the MD/CEO of Jimez Petroleum Resources Limited, used the trip to strengthen relations between Nigeria, Africa, and international election observers.

In addition to participating in the inauguration, Chimezie has held strategic discussions with prominent figures in the international election observation field. This includes meeting with Dr. Emmanuel Irono, Executive Director of TIS International Foundation, Mrs. Mosley, and Mr. Brown, a delegate from New York. He also engaged with EU representative Mr. Asani Musa. Their meetings aimed to build closer ties between Nigeria and the US, particularly in the areas of democratic principles, election integrity, and governance.

Chimezie’s itinerary also included visits to major institutions like the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Columbia District University, and the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC, as he explored opportunities for further collaboration and diplomatic engagement.

A staunch advocate for improved diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the US, Chimezie has long emphasized the importance of leveraging US expertise in energy, technology, industrialization, and security. His involvement in the November 2020 election observation, which saw Trump defeat then Vice President Kamala Harris, further deepens his commitment to advancing democratic values globally.

Before departing from Abuja, Chimezie was named Global Grand Ambassador by Trump Train Africa, a youth initiative. Following Trump’s inauguration, he expressed confidence that a shared commitment to good governance would benefit Nigeria and Africa during Trump’s second term in office. He highlighted the need for credible elections as essential to good governance, justice, and peace, which would foster positive changes for Africa and Nigeria.
