Bauchi gov backs peaceful protests, affirms anger, hunger
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has affirmed a disconnect between the people and government, acknowledging hunger and Nigerians’ displeasure against bad governance.
He said although it is not time for buck passing, the governor stated that the failure of the Federal Government is equally the failure of subnationals and local councils.
Mohammed, who addressed the press at the end of an emergency security stakeholders’ meeting in Government House, Bauchi, stated that President Bola Tinubu should have sought the input of governors before his national broadcast, describing the state chief executives as the leaders closer to the angry youths.
His words: “He (President) should have listened to the governors, who are his first line of charge, first line of commanders at subnational levels, so that we can give him what is going on because we also listen to our local government chairmen, police, brigade commanders and all of them.”
