Council hails Bago for appointing 130 women into Niger govt

The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Niger State Chapter, has applauded Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago for appointing 131 women coordinators, director generals and permanent secretaries into his cabinet.
The NCWS President, Niger State Chapter, Justina Yakubu, made the commendation at a press briefing, held at the state Secretariat of the society, Minna, on Friday.
Justina noted that Bago’s initiative to promote women’s inclusion in governance is a significant step towards bridging the gender gap and fostering a more equitable society, adding that the governor’s vision resonates with the global push for gender equality and women empowerment.
Yakubu while appreciating the governor for his exemplary leadership commitment to women’s empowerment, said that he is not only transforming their lives but also contributing to the overall development and actualization of the New Niger Agenda.
“Since Niger was created in 1976, this is the first time we are getting it right, pointing out that the governor has also promised to reserve the Vice-Chairmanship of 25 local Councils to women,” she said.
Earlier, the state chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, Niger State Branch, Mrs. Bolanle Jibogun, assured that her organization would stand for any woman faced with challenges to reclaim her mandate.
