Ex-presidential candidate commissions one-kilometre asphalt road in Ilorin
Businessman and former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has commissioned a newly constructed one-kilometre asphalt road in Ifedolapo community, Pipeline area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, was performed by former Nigeria Governors’ Forum Chairman and ex-Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Victor Obong Attah.
The event attracted top political and business figures, including former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, former Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Asimiyu Alarape, and Sobi FM Chairman, Lukman Mustapha.

In his remarks, Olawepo-Hashim highlighted the role of private sector involvement in infrastructure development, emphasizing that quality roads are crucial for economic growth.
Dr. Attah lauded him for his commitment to community development, while Lamido humorously dubbed the road “Gbenga Residential Area (GRA),” recognising Olawepo-Hashim’s national influence.
Residents, led by community chairman Alhaji Gani Adeshina, expressed gratitude, citing improved transportation and business growth.
The road, linking Excellence Hall to Danialu Awolowo Road, adds to Olawepo-Hashim’s past infrastructure contributions, reinforcing his dedication to national development.
