The Odogwu family has announced the death of its patriarch, the Ide Ahaba of Asaba, Dr. Sunny Odogwu, describing him as a loving and most supportive family man who touched the lives of so many people.

Odogwu died on November 5, 2018 at the age of 92.

According to the family, he was a formidable pillar of the Nigerian society evincing those values that inspired others and shaped the nature of socio-economic and political engagements on several fronts.

The late patriarch won many awards from all over the world, including the World Bank-IMF African Club Prize in business leadership as Africa’s best businessman (1998).

Also, a statement yesterday by Kenny Odogwu on behalf of the family, said burial announcements and events to mark his exit would be made in due course.

“His legacy can best be summed up in the tribute by the former President of Nigeria, President Olusegun Obasanjo who said he was indeed, a patriot who had made sterling contribution to the socio-economic development of our dear country”, the statement said.
