FG to airlift willing Nigerians from Lebanon amid crisis
Following the breakout of the crisis in Lebanon, the Federal Government has said that it is set to evacuate Nigerians who are willing to return home to protect them from the crisis plaguing the country.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in a statement, said that it would be coordinating the mobilisation and evacuation for their safe return.
According to NEMA, all necessary preparations required for the exercise have been put in place ahead of the eventual evacuation.
“NEMA is coordinating the evacuation, which has started with the mobilisation of the citizens and would be followed immediately with all necessary requirements.
“Following this, the government convened a multi-stakeholder meeting where briefs were received on the condition of Nigerians in Lebanon and preparations by various agencies towards the success of the evacuation exercise,” the statement says.

It also noted that the leader of the Nigerian community in Lebanon told NEMA officials in a phone conversation that the Nigeria mission in Lebanon is supporting and facilitating their safe movement from volatile and risky areas, and so far, no lives have been lost.
“In view of the planned voluntary evacuation, those Nigerians willing to be evacuated home are advised to report to the Nigerian Embassy in Beirut, where they would be profiled for airlift,” the agency said.
