In a historic and colourful ceremony held in the Hong Local Government Area, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State officially presented the staff of office to the newly appointed First Tol Huba, Alheri Bulus Nyako, marking the restoration of the Huba Kingdom’s status.

Speaking at the event, Governor Fintiri charged the new monarch to lead with inclusivity and fairness.

“You must see yourself as a leader for all,” he urged. “The creation of chiefdoms and emirates is aimed at correcting historical injustices. The Huba Chiefdom was once an autonomous entity before colonial administrators downgraded it, and today, we are correcting that by restoring its status.”

The governor, reflecting on his academic background in history, emphasized the significance of grassroots governance. “The establishment of chiefdoms and emirates is to strengthen governance, foster unity, and create rallying points for our communities,” he stated.

Governor Fintiri, while urging the people of Hong to celebrate responsibly, acknowledged divine intervention in the restoration of the Huba Chiefdom. “Our administration remains modest and deliberate; we resist the temptation to take undue credit for this achievement. This is the will of God,” he remarked.

Congratulating the new traditional ruler, he tasked him with mobilizing his subjects for the development of the fourteen districts under his domain.

In his acceptance speech, Tol Huba Alheri Bulus Nyako acknowledged the struggles spanning over a century that led to this historic moment.

“This is a dream long fought for,” he said. “I assure my people of fairness, justice, transparency, and accountability in governance. I will promote unity, peace, and security in alignment with the aspirations of the Huba Chiefdom.”

As a mark of appreciation, Tol Huba Nyako conferred the title of ‘Midala of Huba Chiefdom’ on Governor Fintiri, recognising his contributions to the restoration of the kingdom.

Representing the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Mustapha, the Wali Adamawa, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mbamba, lauded Governor Fintiri for his transformative projects across the state.

“We appreciate the governor’s efforts in fostering development and restoring historical legacies,” he stated. He also expressed confidence in the capacity of the new Tol Huba. “He has the competence and wisdom to meet the expectations of the Huba people.”

Elder statesman, Retired General Halladu Hananiya, Hong Local Government Chairman Inuwa Usman Wa’ganda, and Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly Bathiya Wesley all commended Governor Fintiri for his commitment to justice and equity.

“This event is a victory for the Huba Nation,” Wesley declared.

The ceremony featured an official oath-taking ceremony presided over by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, and was attended by dignitaries from within and outside the state.

With this historic presentation, the Huba Kingdom embarks on a new journey of leadership, unity, and development under its first Tol Huba.
