International donors validates KSADP impact in Kano

The implementation of Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) has received validation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Lives and Livelihoods Funds (LLF) towards improving agriculture and food security in the state.

The USD95 million Agro-Pastoral project targeted at reducing poverty by 30 percent, upscaling the production and productivity of smallholder farmers, has transformed the well-being of 1.3 million beneficiaries along the agriculture value chain in Kano.

Addressing journalists at the end of their three days’ inspections of KSADP projects in Kano, the team lead of the foreign donors of Adil Sherif applauded implementing partners for their impressive impact on the less privileged.

Sherif said the delegation was satisfied with the positive response and fulfilling feedback, especially from female gender whose means of livelihood has grown in multiple fold, three years into KSADP project.

The leader of the delegation said the team, composed of representatives of IsDB, LLF, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, King Salman Relief Centre, Quarter Funds, Abu Dahbi Support fund, were in Nigeria to observe the implementation of KSADP.

The delegation and top government functionaries under the KSADP program had visited local parboil rice centre in Kura local government area, Milk collection centre at Doguwa local government area, Onion preserving centre at Karfi village in Kura local government area and Dawanu international grain market.

The Managing Director, Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA), Dr. Farouk Kurawa pledged commitment of the state government to widen the scope of the intervention.

He said although, KSADP programme was technically structure with inbuilt self sustaining mechanism on agricultural productivity which enables those already adopt the technical will continue to replicate the novel programme.
