Lagos motorcyclist killed in head-on collision
A motorcyclist, whose identity remains undisclosed, was killed in a fatal accident over the weekend while riding against traffic on Carter Bridge, Lagos.
The deceased was reportedly travelling from Ebute Ero when he collided head-on with a fast-moving vehicle as it ascended Carter Bridge from Ilubirin.The impact of the collision led to the immediate death of the motorcyclist, while the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived promptly at the scene and alerted officers from the Central Police Station at Adeniji Adele and Shemo.
Together, they worked to recover the body of the rider, and LASTMA handed over the motorcycle to the police for further investigation.The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family.
He also urged road users to adhere strictly to traffic laws, stressing that commercial motorcycles are prohibited from using highways and other restricted routes, as the Lagos State government mandated.
