MMIA Customs exceeds 2024 revenue target with record ₦71.6b
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Customs Command has exceeded its 2024 revenue target, generating ₦71.6 billion, a 135% increase compared to the previous year’s ₦30.5 billion.
Comptroller Effiong Harrison, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) at MMIA, confirmed the achievement in a statement released over the weekend. While the target for the year was ₦56.8 billion, the command collected an additional ₦14.7 billion, achieving a 20% rise in revenue.
Harrison attributed the success to the commitment and discipline displayed by the officers and staff.
“This is an unprecedented achievement for MMIA Customs,” Harrison said. “The team’s commitment to excellence and adherence to stringent operational standards have been key to this success.”
July 2024 stood out as the command recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue of ₦12 billion.

The 2024 revenue growth signifies a remarkable improvement from 2023, when the MMIA Customs Command generated ₦30.5 billion. The increase of ₦41.1 billion from the previous year highlights the command’s enhanced performance and underscores the role of the Customs Service in boosting the country’s economy.
Harrison expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, and the management team for their support. He also appreciated key partners and other government agencies for their contributions.
Looking ahead to 2025, Harrison is optimistic about further revenue growth and pledged to continue improving operations at MMIA.
“We are committed to maintaining these high standards, ensuring we continue contributing meaningfully to government revenues,” he concluded.
