Niger gov greats Gowon at 90
Niger State Governor, Muhammed Umaru Bago, has congratulated former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), on his 90th birthday.
In a birthday message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Bago described the former Nigerian leader as a symbol of humility, unity, and patriotism.
He recalled the remarkable leadership Gowon offered the nation, highlighting his role in initiating and implementing policies that fostered peacebuilding and national unity.
The governor remarked that Gen. Gowon is undoubtedly an elder statesman whose legacy is etched in gold, adding that posterity will remember him kindly.
Bago expressed delight in celebrating a great leader with high moral standards on his birthday. He also prayed for God’s continued protection over Gowon, wishing him good health and more wisdom for the benefit of humanity.
