Hisbah arrests Jigawa commissioner for alleged adultery in Kano
The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, a serving Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa State, for alleged infidelity with a married woman in a secluded area of the state.
Sankara, who is the son of a former senator, was reportedly caught in the act inside his vehicle, parked in an uncompleted building.
Hisbah Director General, Abba Sufi, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Friday.
The Shari’a police boss disclosed that the Jigawa politician was arrested alongside the married woman following intelligence reports.
Sufi explained that Hisbah acted on complaints from the younger brother of the woman’s husband to uncover the alleged adulterous act.
“Yes, it is true we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa Commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him, unknown to him that we were tracking him based on reports we received,” Sufi stated.
“The arrest followed a complaint by Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, who accused the commissioner of engaging in an illicit affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the mother of his two children.
“Nasiru Bulama filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging Sankara’s involvement in illicit sexual activities with his wife,” Sufi added.
The DG further explained that Sankara will face multiple charges, including operating illicit drug centres under the names Picklock, 360, and three other locations.
“We have had ongoing issues with Sankara because he is operating illicit drug centres disguised as hotels, where prostitution and drug addiction activities take place,” Sufi noted.
Efforts to contact Governor Umar Namadi’s Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Muhammed Gumel, for comments were unsuccessful. Calls and WhatsApp messages to his phone were not answered at the time of filing this report.
