Mohammed flags off 55km road projects worth N18b in Bauchi
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday flagged off the construction of 38km and rehabilitation of 17km rural roads in Kirfi Local Government Area at the cost of N18 billion.
The Governor who stated this while flagging off the ceremony of the projects at Bara Village emphasized the importance of rural infrastructure in driving development and improving the lives of rural dwellers.
He noted that the project is part of the fulfillment of his campaign promises made to the people of the local government area and his administration’s commitment to addressing the infrastructure deficit in rural areas and promoting inclusive growth.
According to him, the two projects have been awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, a reputable construction firm in the country.
He said: “I welcome you to this occasion of the flag-off for the construction of 38 kilometers of Bara-Hashidu-Tubule-Garin Malam Julde-Wanka and the rehabilitation of 17 kilometers Alkaleri-Kirfi road both in Kirfi LGA.
“The two projects signify a major milestone in fulfilling our campaign promises made to the good people of Kirfi Local Government Area.
“In the past five years that we’ve been steering the affairs of the State in the path of sustainable development through the provision of people-oriented demand-doing projects and programmes.”
According to Mohammed, the two projects revolve around the transformation of rural communities by providing road infrastructure to improve agricultural activities, boost the commercial capacities of small and medium-scale farmers, and provide basic amenities in the areas of basic education and primary health development.
“Contracts for the two projects have been awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited at the cost of N11.9 billion for the construction of Bara-Wanka road and N6.3 billion for the rehabilitation of Alkaleri-Kirfi road. This brings the total cost of the projects to N17.7 billion.
“I am pleased to inform you that Bauchi State Government has already paid the contractor 30 percent of the projects as mobilization.
“I’d like to commend the resilience and determination of Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, a renowned construction firm that has shown proficiency in road contacts and projects since the inception of our administration,” he stated
In a remark, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, said that the project will positively impact the local economy, with farmers and traders able to transport their goods more easily, and residents having better access to social services.
