Restores water to communities after years of disruption
The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced the temporary closure of the Mokola flyover bridge to the Sango route for 10 days to allow for essential road rehabilitation and culvert repairs.

OYRTMA stressed that the closure is necessary to prevent further deterioration of the infrastructure.

It said: “Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to minimise delays and congestion during this period. Travellers from Dugbe towards Mokola can navigate via the Queens Cinema junction near Adamasingba Stadium, exiting at Jemibewon junction.

“For those from Sango or Veterinary heading towards the Mokola/Dugbe axis, the recommended route is to branch off at Jemibewon, proceed to Agbarigo, and exit at Fijabi junction.

“Motorists travelling from Eleyele or Agbarigo towards Mokola Roundabout can also use Polo junction to reach the Veterinary junction. Those coming from the Gate/Bus Stop area towards Mokola Roundabout and Dugbe should take Dandanru junction, proceed towards the Amotekun office along Premier junction, and then link up at Jemibewon junction.”

OYRTMA assured the public that personnel and materials would be deployed to ensure a smooth traffic flow.

Meanwhile, Oyo State Water Corporation has restored water supply to residents in some parts of the state after many years of service disruption due to technical challenges.

The corporation explained that repairs to leaks and bursts in other water pipelines across the state are ongoing.

The corporation’s Chairman, Elias Adeojo, said in a statement that operations had resumed at major waterworks and booster stations to complement the water supply to Ibadan and its environs.

He noted that supply had been restored to Molete, Bode, Labiran, Beyeruka, the Eleyele axis, and Bashorun-Oluwo Nla.

While assuring residents of improved service delivery, Adeojo urged them to use water wisely, adding that measures have been put in place to ensure the prompt repair of facilities as they are detected or reported by the public.

“The agency under my supervision will do everything possible to ensure that the recently restored potable water supply to Ibadan and its environs is sustained,” he said.

The chairman asked for the understanding of consumers in the affected areas for any inconvenience, assuring the public of a steady water supply.

He added: “Let me assure residents of Ibadan and its environs of adequate potable water supply as all factors, such as leakages and burst pipes, affecting the Oyo State Water Corporation are being tackled with precise accuracy.

“The corporation will deploy its personnel and machinery to restore potable water to other parts of the state as soon as all the faults in Ibadan are resolved.”
