Police confirm abduction of Oyo PDP chieftain Benedict Akika

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Benedict Akika.

Akika, popularly known as Bene and a staunch supporter of Governor Makinde, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen who invaded his Olorunda-Aba residence in Lagelu Local Council, Oyo State, on Wednesday night.

The kidnappers, wearing facial masks, stormed the residence and seized all phones, including his wife’s, before abducting Akika.

Unconfirmed reports suggest one person was killed during the incident.

The Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that an investigation is underway and promised updates as the case develops. He assured the public, “Authorities are on top of the situation.”
