THE tempo of political activities in the country will increase Saturday as the Delta State capital of Asaba is scheduled to host a meeting of Arewa leaders from all the 17 Southern States with President Goodluck Jonathan.

 The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan on Community Relations (Arewa), Alhaji Tukur said that the delegates would formally endorse Jonathan’s re-election bid.

  Jonathan who breezed into the Delta State capital in preparation for the parley with the leaders of the Arewa community assured the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien during a courtesy call that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government would ensure the economic development, peace, security and unity of the country.

  He said that he (Jonathan) would keep faith in the promises he has made with the Asagba in public and private discussions in Abuja.

   Auwalu said that the Arewa people in the seventeen southern states decided to endorse Jonathan for a second term because of his sterling performance and for the sake of national unity.

   Auwalu, who spoke in a telephone interview, said that a rally of Arewa people would take place today in Asaba after the endorsement. Former State Governor Alhaji Attahiru Bafawara is expected to be at the rally.

   Jonathan said he would do what is best for the people and ensure that development spreads across the country and Delta State.
