DSS Alerts Public About Unmarked Taxis, Motor Parks
THE Department of State Services (DSS) has called on the Nigerian public to desist from boarding improperly marked taxis, advising that them to instead board vehicles only in designated motor parks and screen all vehicles and luggage coming into motor parks.
A statement issued Friday evening by the spokesperson of the Service Marilyn Ogar said the call became necessary following intelligence report that insurgents now target civilians in reprisal attack against the defeat they suffered in the hands of the Nigerian army in the North-East.
The statement said fleeing terrorists have become desperate due to “the recent spate of attacks recorded in Yobe, Kano, Borno and Plateau States with intent of distracting security forces.”
According to the statement signed by the Deputy Director, Nigerians need “to be vigilant especially in crowded environment and when travelling. Commuters should desist from boarding unmarked vehicles along the road and only use designated Motor parks.
“We also reiterate our call on motor park managers to ensure proper screening of vehicles, persons and luggage entering their premises. They should also look out for new faces who show up as drivers and conductors,” she said. The statement also seeks to encourage residents of the recaptured towns and communities to return homes.
