A SENIOR Advocate of Nigeria, Mahmud Abubakar Magaji has expressed displeasure over the story published in the February 26 edition of The Guardian titled: “Police indicts ex-gov for money laundering”.

The learned silk said the publication is defamatory because the matter is pending before the court in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/152/14.

“The above issue is a subject matter for adjudication currently pending before the Federal High Court, in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/152/14 and awaiting judicial pronouncement.

Incidentally, you breached all professional ethics and displayed a gross disrespect for the honourable court when you disregarded the rule of law and made a publication involving a matter, which is sub judice, thus usurping the jurisdiction of the honourable court. Needless to state that your conduct is actionable and we shall not hesitate to subject you to the rigours of litigation if you fail and/or neglect to issue a retraction of the said publication,” he threatened, giving seven days within which to retract the said story.
