Two blasts rock Jos, Biu

TWO suicide bombers have killed at least 15 people at a bus station in north-eastern Nigeria, witnesses say.

Only one of the bomber’s explosives detonated properly, the other bomber died at the scene in Biu, witnesses told the BBC.

A second bombing has hit a crowded bus station in the town of Jos, in north-central Nigeria.

This is the latest deadly bombing in the region, where Boko Haram has been waging a six-year insurgency.

On Tuesday, President Goodluck Jonathan said the tide had turned against militant group Boko Haram.

He added that its insurgency would “soon be over”, as regional forces recapture territory from the group, he said in a statement.

More than 50 people died in Tuesday’s attacks in Kano and Potiskum but no group has said it carried them out.

Civilian vigilante Babagana Kyari told AFP that “at least 18 people, including three women, died… and several others were injured,” an account supported by Ali Dauda who lives locally and saw the blast.

The bomber was one of two at the Tashar Gandu motor park on the edge of the town in Borno state. The other was shot dead before he could detonate his explosives, Dauda added.
