NOA boss defends PBAT economic approach
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Isa-Onilu, at the weekend, stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is geared towards establishing a robust foundation for the nation’s economy.
Onilu urged Nigerians to appreciate Tinubu for his strategic approach and his aversion to temporary fixes, stating that many Nigerians may not immediately understand its positive impact.
Addressing the media in Ilorin at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State’s 46th Media Parliament, Onilu explained Tinubu’s many successful policies while he was a governor in Lagos State.
According to him, Tinubu is committed to natural and systematic solutions, unlike previous administrations, warning that failure to rebuild the economic structure could lead to catastrophic consequences.
He elaborated on the impact of the government’s decision to phase out subsidies, noting that it has resulted in significant revenue savings that have been reinvested into the economy.
Previously, approximately N800 billion was allocated to states for distribution. However, with the removal of subsidies, an excess of N2.3 trillion has been disbursed to the states.
This shift has led to improved debt management and a notable boost in market activity.
As a result, investors are increasingly interested in opportunities within Nigeria.
