Ondo election: IPAC tasks INEC, security agencies on neutrality
The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, the police, and other security agencies that will participate in Saturday’s off-cycle election in Ondo State to be neutral and impartial during the exercise.
While appealing to the electoral body and the security agencies to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and candidates, the National Chairman of IPAC, Yusuf Dantalle, stated that the neutrality of the institutions is imperative in order to promote and strengthen the country’s democracy.
Speaking in Akure, the state capital, during a stakeholders meeting and voter sensitisation ahead of the poll, Dantalle said the roles of INEC and security were critical to maintaining the trust and confidence of the electorates.
The IPAC Chairman reiterated that the election was not war but an exercise in a democracy, where leaders who would promote good governance, accountability, and development are chosen.
He said it is imperative to emphasise the significance of conducting a free, fair, and peaceful election.
He urged all stakeholders must all play by the rules, adhering to the electoral guidelines, constitution, and electoral act.
“To the voters in the state, we urge you to exercise your civic duty without hindrance. Vote for the candidates of your choice based on their manifesto, track record, and leadership qualities. Reject any form of vote-buying, as it undermines the integrity of our democracy,” he said.

“To the contestants, we urge you to know that the will of the electorate is sacrosanct and should be respected. The decision to choose leaders rests squarely on the shoulders of the people, and that is what makes democracy unique. Therefore, contestants in any election must resist the temptation to manipulate the process or attempt to force themselves on the people.”
