PHOTOS: CDS pays tribute to Late General Useni in Jos
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has paid glowing tribute to the late Lieutenant General Jeremiah Useni (retd), describing him as an extraordinary man, a dedicated soldier, and a true patriot.
Speaking at the Service of Songs held in honor of the late General at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Headquarters, Jos, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, General Musa highlighted Useni’s immense contributions to the Nigerian military and the nation at large.
General Musa described the late General Useni as a symbol of excellence, discipline, and service, whose career spanned both military and political spheres.
He noted that Useni’s leadership was instrumental in shaping the Nigerian Army and ensuring the nation’s stability during difficult times.

As the Military Governor of the old Bendel State and later the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Useni was known for his commitment to nation-building, blending firmness with compassion in his leadership.
Beyond his military and political roles, General Useni was remembered as a philanthropist and devoted Christian who embodied humility, love, and service to humanity.
General Musa extended his deepest condolences to Useni’s family, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and the people of Plateau State, calling for his remarkable life and legacy to be honored.
The CDS was accompanied to the service by top military officials, including the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Chief of Defence Operations, Chief of Defence Logistics, the GOC 3 Armoured Division, and senior officers from the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
