Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to partnering with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat substance abuse across the state.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to combat substance abuse across the state.

Mutfwang stated this during a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Muhammad Buba Marwa (rtd), at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

He commended Marwa for the significant efforts in tackling substance abuse nationwide, praising his resilience and dedication to ridding the country of drug-related issues.

Mutfwang, in a statement, yesterday, by his Director, Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, also acknowledged the support his administration has received from the agency in its efforts to curb the menace in Plateau State, calling for greater synergy to further stem the tide of what he called the “killer disease.”

Responding, Marwa commended Mutfwang for implementing people-oriented programmes that have positively impacted the lives of Plateau citizens.

He also praised the governor’s courage and maturity in handling security issues in the state, assuring him of the agency’s commitment to achieving lasting peace and a drug-free Plateau.

Marwa stressed that the fight against illicit drugs must be all-encompassing for the country to overcome the life-threatening challenge. He noted that Plateau State is a gateway to the North-West, emphasising the need for a fierce battle against both suppliers and consumers of illegal substances.

He also revealed that the agency was taking steps to build barracks across the 36 states for its personnel, as drug addicts often turn against officers after being released on bail. The project, he explained, would commence in the six geopolitical zones.

Meanwhile, Mutfwang also paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Anite, where strategic discussions were held on revitalising small-scale businesses in Plateau State for the benefit of all citizens.
