Police probe NYSC member’s disappearance in Rivers, arrest four
The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the disappearance of Yahya Faruq, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in the Andoni Local Government Area.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the case following reports by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Edo Central Area Council.
“Yes, I am aware of it,” Iringe-Koko said. “Four persons have been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.”
Faruq reportedly went missing on Monday, October 14, 2024, after signing into his part-time job at LDM Chinese Milling Company in Ikuru Town but failed to log out. His belongings, including his phone and bag, were later returned by the company to his Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) at Mixed Secondary School, Ikuru Town, raising fears about his safety.
The MSSN has issued a plea for assistance, calling for prayers and empathy to help locate Faruq. They reported his disappearance to the authorities, prompting the ongoing police investigation.
