South-East peace initiative: Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana engages Ugochinyere in collaborative solutions
In a significant move towards fostering national unity and addressing issues of injustice and marginalization, Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana, HRM Eze Dr. Chuckwudi Jude Ihenetu, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a Member of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Ideato North and South federal constituency of Imo State. The leaders engaged in discussions focused on promoting unity, justice, and restoring peace in the South-East region, expressing their commitment to these ideals.
During the visit, HRM Eze Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu commended Hon. Ugochinyere for his dedication to justice, good governance, and effective representation. He praised Ugochinyere’s energy and wisdom, characterizing him as a role model for the youth. Eze Dr. Ihenetu highlighted Ugochinyere’s engagement in the political system and his unwavering efforts for government reforms and the establishment of justice and fairness.
The discussion encompassed various important topics, particularly addressing the current security challenges in the South-East. Eze Dr. Ihenetu proposed convening a large meeting of all representatives to devise effective solutions. He stressed the significance of leaving a lasting legacy in their homeland, noting the accomplishments of Nigerians of Igbo descent achieved through hard work and sacrifice. He expressed concern about poverty and hunger, urging patience while the government works on long-term solutions.
Eze Dr. Ihenetu also expressed worry about the security situation in Nigeria and called on the government to adopt enduring measures to combat insecurity. He emphasized the need for a conducive environment for economic growth and business prosperity. Additionally, he urged the 10th National Assembly leadership to introduce legislation that facilitates ease of doing business, contributing to economic expansion.
In his response, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere echoed the concerns and challenges raised, particularly highlighting the formidable security obstacles facing the nation. He recounted difficulties encountered during the 2023 election campaigns, including the unfortunate incidents of violence. Ugochinyere emphasized the urgency of addressing security threats to ensure a stable and prosperous Nigeria.
The meeting was attended by other notable figures, including Hon. Stainless Nwodo from Enugu State and the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Hon. Aliyu Mustapha. They acknowledged the efforts of Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana in promoting a positive image of Nigeria.
Eze Ndi Igbo Ghana also extended an invitation to Members of the House of Representatives for the Igbo Day/New Yam Festival celebration scheduled for September 17, 2023, in Accra, Ghana. This event aims to gather Igbo people and supporters of Igbo culture and unity.
