UIMGA 2024 Awards: 20 indigent Muslim students get scholarship

Muslim students from the University of Ibadan (UI), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Osun State University, Osogbo and Bayero University,  Kano have held the 18th edition of their yearly scholarship awards for indigent students.

Muslim students from the University of Ibadan (UI), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Osun State University, Osogbo and Bayero University,  Kano have held the 18th edition of their yearly scholarship awards for indigent students.

The programme, which was held at Prof.MOA Abdul Islamic Centre, UI, saw the Muslim students given scholarships of N1m to 20 students. Each of the students received N50,000.

Cheques were presented to the beneficiaries by the UIMGA National President, Alhaji Imran AbdulMojeed and Alhaja Hadrat  AbdulAzeez from the  United States of America, who represented members of the association in Diaspora.

AbdulAzeez and the Chairman of University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates Association (UIMGA) Scholarship Scheme ,Alhaji Abdullah Wale Adelakun, urged students to be disciplined and good ambassadors of Islam.

Prof. Sherifat Aboaba delivered a short lecture with the title: “Striving for Academic Excellence and Brazing up for the Challenges Ahead”.
 
Aboaba emphasised the need for them to develop entrepreneurial skills to survive, rather than hoping for a white collar job after graduation. 

The association’s National President offered prayers for all donors and members of the association at home and in the Diaspora. He urged the students to pay back into the society by ensuring active participation in the association’s activities after graduation.
